VALOR DE LA LIBERTAD

El tesoro más grande que Dios nos dio es la libertad. Y nos parecemos más a El cuando la usamos para amar. Nos alejamos de ser su imagen si esta libertad nos destruye, si nos encadena a vicios, si abusamos de ella para dañar a los demás.
La educación más difícil, personal y de otros, es el proceso para ser libres. El reto más complicado es que los hijos, desde pequeñitos, sobre todo los adolescentes y jóvenes, con el buen ejemplo de sus padres, aprendan a controlar sus instintos y reacciones, que sean dueños de sí mismos, no esclavos de sus gustos, emociones y deseos. Cuando esto se logra, se forman personas maduras, responsables, fieles a sus compromisos, respetuosos de los demás, pacientes, capaces de renunciar a los atractivos del alcohol, de las drogas, del abuso sexual, del atractivo de robar y de golpear. Es un proceso que dura toda la vida, pero tienen que ponerse las bases desde la familia, la escuela y la Iglesia.
Todo lo contrario a esta libertad madura y constructiva, en la tendencia a ver con buenos ojos que cada quien haga lo que quiera, que no se le reprima para que no se traumatice, que se manifieste tal cual es, que nada se le niegue, que goce la vida… Aquí está la raíz de tanto libertinaje, de la exaltación de los derechos sin deberes, de la agresividad social incontrolada. ¿Qué hacer?
“La libertad es un valor precioso, pero delicado; se la puede entender y usar mal. En la actualidad, un obstáculo particularmente insidioso para la obra educativa es la masiva presencia, en nuestra sociedad y cultura, del relativismo que, al no reconocer nada como definitivo, deja como última medida sólo el propio yo con sus caprichos; y, bajo la apariencia de la libertad, se transforma para cada uno en una prisión, porque separa al uno del otro, dejando a cada uno encerrado dentro de su propio “yo”. Por consiguiente, dentro de ese horizonte relativista no es posible una auténtica educación, pues sin la luz de la verdad, antes o después, toda persona queda condenada a dudar de la bondad de su misma vida y de las relaciones que la constituyen, de la validez de su esfuerzo por construir con los demás algo en común. Para ejercer su libertad, el hombre debe superar por tanto el horizonte del relativismo y conocer la verdad sobre sí mismo y sobre el bien y el mal.
Sólo en la relación con Dios comprende también el hombre el significado de la propia libertad. Y es cometido de la educación el formar en la auténtica libertad. Ésta no es la ausencia de vínculos o el dominio del libre albedrío, no es el absolutismo del yo. El hombre que cree ser absoluto, no depender de nada ni de nadie, que puede hacer todo lo que se le antoja, termina por contradecir la verdad del propio ser, perdiendo su libertad. Por el contrario, el hombre es un ser relacional, que vive en relación con los otros y, sobre todo, con Dios. La auténtica libertad nunca se puede alcanzar alejándose de Él.
También los jóvenes han de tener el valor de vivir ante todo ellos mismos lo que piden a quienes están en su entorno. Les corresponde una gran responsabilidad: que tengan la fuerza de usar bien y conscientemente la libertad. También ellos son responsables de la propia educación y formación en la justicia y la paz”.
Padres de familia: Vivan responsablemente su propia libertad, para que sean capaces de educar a sus hijos en esta nobilísima virtud. No den mal ejemplo llegando a casa a la hora que les dé la gana, alegando que pueden hacer lo que quieran. Eso generará que sus hijos procedan igual. Al contrario, ejerzan su libertad siendo responsables en el trabajo y en el hogar. No consientan que los hijos se la pasen jugando, en la calle, viendo televisión, durmiendo, si es que deben hacer la tarea, ayudar al quehacer familiar, compartir con los demás. Que se levanten a tiempo, que regresen a una hora fija por las noches, que se controlen al comer y beber. Duele no darles gusto en todo, pero es lo que más les hace crecer como personas libres.

El hombre está marcado por la necesidad de comunión con los demás para crear una comunidad más amplia donde todos puedan contribuir al bien común y beneficiarse de él; una participación amplia, libre y responsable de las personas en la vida comunitaria y una autoridad capaz de dar unidad y dirección a las energías de todos, no de forma déspota, sino con un auténtico espíritu de servicio.
La autoridad, en todas sus manifestaciones, debe basarse en un auténtico espíritu de servicio y autoridad moral.
Nos comprometemos a ejercer nuestras tareas en la sociedad guardando siempre el bien de los demás con verdadero espíritu de responsabilidad.
También creemos que es de justicia agradecer el buen uso del poder, máxime cuando suponga un servicio duro y poco valorado.
Como la sociedad es de todos, aunque algunos hayan sido elegidos para administrarla, cada uno tiene el derecho de participar en las decisiones comunes. Por otro lado, la participación es también un deber, en la medida que sea posible debemos tomar parte en la vida de la comunidad con sentido de responsabilidad.
Nos esforzaremos por crear espacios de auténtica participación y fomentar la corresponsabilidad en todo lo que atañe la vida común. En este sentido valoramos la democracia como forma de gobierno más participativa.

Las instituciones no pueden ser un fin en sí mismas sino que deben orientarse a alcanzar el bien común respetando y promoviendo los valores humanos esenciales, siempre vinculados a una responsabilidad moral y al servicio a la comunidad.
Consideramos que no deberían invadir la libertad de las personas y de las comunidades, sino actuar en la perspectiva del principio de subsidiariedad.
Creemos que el bien común, es una expresión de amor y de servicio dedicado a los demás.
